Steve Ballmer video from MSDN Live in Oslo

Yesterday I was in Oslo to attend: MSDN Live, the national NNUG board meeting and shake hands with Steve Ballmer. Yeah, THAT Steve Ballmer, the big chief in charge! We also got our picture taken with all the chapter leaders in NNUG Norway together with Steve. Thanks to Rune Grothaug @ Microsoft for setting this up!

Yea, it was pretty awesome. Rune G did a great job firing up the audience before he came on stage. The actual mood in the audience is not accurately reflected on the video. It was much louder!

about me!

Hi, I'm Jon Arild Tørresdal. I work as R&D Manager and Chief Architect for CMA Contiki in Bergen, Norway where I've been working since 2003. I'm also the leader of Norwegian .Net User Group (NNUG) in Bergen. Since 1999 I've been working on Microsoft technology, mostly .Net. I'm an early adapter always looking for new ways to put technology to use for the company I work for, at NNUG or just as an excuse to do some coding at home.

I've been focusing quite a lot on agile development and in 2006 I introduced Scrum to Contiki, which gave us great value. Lately my focus has been to adapt more of the practices found in Extreme Programming and motivate developers, testers and other agile team members to adapt these to improve the overall quality of our delivery. My motivation for studying these practices is to constantly improve the way I and others work in my organization; both by having fun and adding value to our customers.

I'm also known to do tech talks. I have an urge to communicate my discoveries, passions and other interesting things that I feel should be shared with others. Some of the talks I've done are: .Net Architecture, Scrum, WCF and ClickOnce. In Contiki I often find myself doing presentations on technologies we're about to adapt or how to improve our agile process.

Except from work I am married to my beautiful wife, Gry Helene and we live together in with our son Jesper. I love good food and wine, especially red wine from northern Italy. I'm trying to start a collection without any great luck so far :-)
