I’ve been chapter lead of NNUG Bergen for 4,5 years now, together with a great group of people. I think we have accomplished a great deal. We’ve managed to attract some great developers in the local community to attend and participate in our meetings and discussions, as well as local, national and international speakers doing presentations and being social. When I now step down, it does not mean things are slow and boring. On the contrary, I’m confident NNUG Bergen will still progress towards an even greater community. For me personally I have too much going on and something needs to be sacrificed – and I believe NNUG Bergen will benefit from a change of “leadership”. For your information the current NNUG Bergen board consist of: John St. Clair, Torbjørn Marø, Øyvind Fanebust and Thomas Pedersen – a great representation of the .NET community in Bergen! We have yet to announce who’s taking over after me, but we have many possible candidates, and I’m sure that person will continue the success of NNUG Bergen. I will still be involved in the community though, attend meetings, present (if they allow me) and I will still keep the chairman role of NNUG National. Hopefully now get some more time to focus on tasks related to some of the National activities. Did anyone say a new website would be in order? That’s one of the things we’re going to sort out going forward. If you know somebody that you think should be part of the board in NNUG Bergen or a candidate for chapter lead, drop me an email and I’ll make sure to forward it to the others. See you at NNUG!

Update 15th June 2010: Downloads are now available: I've finally found the time to encode the recording we did when Udi Dahan visited us at NNUG Bergen and presented NServiceBus. In the first video, Udi talks about why or why not you should use a bus. The second video demos NServiceBus in action. The original plan was to have a screen recording as well as video, but because of some network problems that plan failed. In the first video you can see me hacking on Udi’s computer to try and get the internet connection to work Sorry about that. We plan to get a permanent solution in place for publishing videos (not my blog ), but for now I’ve posted them here and we'll see how long my server/broadband can withstand the traffic I used IIS Smooth Streaming for this one, so that should help a lot. Let me know if you have any problems. The quality should be quite good so full screen viewing is probably a good option (especially on the second video). Next coming months I’ll be having a few talks about Single Sign-On (SSO), Windows Identity Foundation (WIF), Active Directory Federation Services 2.0 (AD FS) and Federation. The IASA talk will be a 1/2 hour high level presentation of how to accomplish Single Sign-On (SSO) across applications and organizations. One of my motivations for heading over to Oslo to do this talk is to hear and meet the other speakers that night as well as attending the Open Space session at the end. Overall topic for the night is “Security in Architecture”. At MSDN Live I’ll go more in depth into WIF and how to simplify identity management in and across applications. I will also show AD FS, but more as a simple way of setting up a Security Token Service (STS) and not go into the inner workings of AD FS. At MSDN there’s a great variety of talks, so check out the agenda! Hope to see you there!

In the last couple of weeks we (NNUG Bergen) have remotely worked on setting up a user group event together with AltNetBeers with support from QCon London. As of today about 100 people have signed up and will show up at the Glass House on Thursday 18:30. So what have we planned? Well, the QCon speakers: Corey Haines, Udi Dahan, Dan North, Oren Eini (Ayende), Ben Hall, Roy Osherove and Jon Skeet are coming! And if that’s not interesting enough, the AltNetBeers guys are organizing an hour fish-bowl beer-fueled open-space. To get in the proper mood ThoughtWorks will buy us some beers I bet you’re sorry if you’re not in London or heading for QCon now! Btw. you don’t need to be a QCon attendee to come to this event. You can sign up here. Hope to see you there.
