I’ve had some problems with my ATI display driver on Windows 7 on my HP Compaq 6910p. I did a search and found some new display drivers specifically for Windows 7. The installation didn’t work on my computer (it froze), but I found the MSI for the driver at this localtion:

C:\ATI\beta_w7-32_8-56-1-081203a-72489\Packages\Drivers\Display\LH_INF

That seamed to work.

I also have a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000 (nice short name) which didn’t work properly when presenting stuff in Power Point (the next button didn’t work). I found a Windows 7 driver for the mouse at Microsoft along with many others you might find interesting.

PS! This article is about Norwegian wireless broadband's, but you might find similar solutions in your country.

ICElogo A couple of years ago I considered buying a subscription for a wireless broadband from ICE to use when I was out traveling or at our lodge. ICE uses the old mobile network in Norway (NMT 450) at 450 MHz which had and still has a great mobile coverage in Norway (though not used for mobile phones anymore). This network has a max down speed of 3,1 Mit/s and upload of 1,8 Mbit/s. However, at the time the subscription was too expensive (around 400kr/$80/£50) per month. It was not an option to have both a fixed broadband at home and the wireless subscription on top of that. Recently though they have started to offer a different subscription based on usage. Or actually it's a subscription where you pay for one week at the time, which is more attractive but still quite expensive if you're just using it in the weekends. However, having this as an option to get on the Internet when you absolutely have to is of great value. DinSide.no has an article about ICE.

Telenor Another company offering a similar concept is Telenor. Telenor offer wireless through normal GSM network (EDGE/3G/Turbo-3G). They has several subscription options from monthly, weekend to just usage. You can find more info here. There's also a test by DinSide.no here.

NetCom A third company (NetCom) also provide this service. Their subscription services is very similar to Telenor's, except they don't offer usage only.

Common for all of these is that you'll need a USB modem that your provider will provide as part of your subscription. Some providers let you use your mobile phone or your PC modem with a SIM card instead.

Ripple2.jpgThis was just to cool to not blog about! Nothing much to say except that you have to check it out yourself. I have two links for you, one to the official Surface site at Microsoft and the other to PopularMechanics. The last link shows much of the same as the official site, but in a more “documentary” style :) If anyone gets hands-on experience with this, I would really like to hear from you on how it was.

roundtable.jpgLast night after I finished my Scrum presentation at NNUG, John St. Clair (architect at Reaktor and board member of NNUG) came up to me and asked if I’ve heard about Office RoundTable? As truth is, I hadn’t and asked what it was?

MS360Cam_Inside.jpgHe thought that since we at Contiki have distributed teams it might be interesting for us. He explained that it was a 360 cam for Microsoft Live Meeting and it had auto focus on the person talking. Next thing I know he’s showing me a demo of it, which you’ll find here. But I think this one is a better demo of the device, though not that fancy.

Since I saw this, only one thing has been going through my mind; we just got to get us one of these! It would just make our day so much simpler. And not only that, it’s not as expensive as I initially feared. Just below $3000. Only sad thing is that it’s not for sale yet. Someone told me it might be for sale in Q2 this year though.

Thanks John for an excellent tip!
