Update 15th June 2010: Downloads are now available:

I've finally found the time to encode the recording we did when Udi Dahan visited us at NNUG Bergen and presented NServiceBus. In the first video, Udi talks about why or why not you should use a bus. The second video demos NServiceBus in action.

The original plan was to have a screen recording as well as video, but because of some network problems that plan failed. In the first video you can see me hacking on Udi’s computer to try and get the internet connection to work :-) Sorry about that.

We plan to get a permanent solution in place for publishing videos (not my blog :-)), but for now I’ve posted them here and we'll see how long my server/broadband can withstand the traffic :-) I used IIS Smooth Streaming for this one, so that should help a lot. Let me know if you have any problems. The quality should be quite good so full screen viewing is probably a good option (especially on the second video).

Try Vimeo or Viddler--they're both free so long as the videos are under about 500 MB.

Videos don't work. They seam to load, but then the place where videos should be is simply blank

Michal: Are you on a platform that does not support Silverlight or have you not installed Silverlight? It works for me and many others, but of course I can never be 100% sure.

Yes I do have SL (windows 7, vs2010 + SL4 tools).

I see it loading. I see, for a second, a screen with play button which is white on some kind of rectangle with rounded corners background while overal background is gradient. So as you see I do have a working SL - or such is my guess. What I wonder about though is in Fiddler I can't see any request going out for the actual streams.

I've tried 2 different users on my machine using IE8 and one using Firefox.
It works for my friend though.

I'll check on different machine...

W2k8r2 freshly installed SL4 - works fine.

Strange thing...

Is there any way to download the video?
David

David: Not now, but we might provide that later. I'm also looking at upgrading to IIS Media Service 4.0 to support IPhone and more. Problem is that someone is always viewing the videos and I need to take down the server to upgrade :-) I'm currently adding a ARR server so that I can load balance and more easily do upgrades and changes, so in a few days there should be some more options.

I managed to get the videos working with a lot of hacks.

I worte me a SmoothStreaming player (Microsoft has outdone themselves once again by providing .dll only working in Silverlight - how smart is that?).
Issue is however - SL cannot access resources on a different domain withouth cross domain policy file which you don't have obviously. Nothing Fiddler couldn't fix though ;-)

@David - yes you can download the video and sound streams. I did that with no bigger problem.
Just look at this:

http://media.torresdal.net/udi/Udi_NServiceBus_Part1.ism/Manifest

you got url, just fill in varaibles and you can download all the chunks. Question is though what will you do with it ;-)

Hi,

I'm on latest ubuntu, moonlight installed for ff 3.6.3, unfortunately videos are not working for me.

It would be great to have download option.

Thanks,
Marek

It would be really nice to be able to download the entire video so that I could present it to my team without needing to worry about a decent network connection or server issues.
